Uncle L, worked for the CIA, came down from Munich with a basketful of conspiracy theories. He believes that Britain’s royal family are alien lizards craving for virgin blood, and that Indonesia’s unusually stable economic status may hold the key to world peace. A Catholic for many years, he’s probably the only Malaysian I know who got away with a religious conversion. But then again - he’s legally an American now. And if anybody asks about his cultural background, he’ll say “I’m a full-blooded orang Padang”.
With him back in town, family pictures, a table full of rendang, semur nangka, ketupat sayur, and four plates of seconds later - it was a Sunday well spent. :)
